Tasting notes seem like overkill for a rosé. Do you really need to give it that much thought? Maybe a playlist would be more helpful. More on that in a moment.
Hold our rosé up to the light. What color do you see? It’s not quite scarlet, not quite vermillion, but somewhere in between. Let’s keep it simple and call it orange-red. Now taste it. Ours is made from Syrah so you might expect something bold and fruity. Not so fast. With ours you’ll taste tart cherries, macerated strawberries and nectarines. The acidity is bracing and there is a surprising backbone of lime zest and white pepper. Should the glass warm in your hand, you might detect rhubarb. Don’t let that happen, drink up.
As for that playlist: Louis Armstrong, Yo La Tengo, Vampire Weekend, Electric Guest and, if you must, Norah Jones.
